I was taking another look at the website from which I intended to buy the B5, and I observed that its body its Mahogany... isn't that heavier than swamp ash? It must be an older model, its bridge has two parts...

Ouch! Yep a 2 part "fortress" bridge, thats a old model! The fortress bridges are know te be not that stable.
The recent series have a EB12 bridge.
The swamp ash models are the lightest

Hi, could you please tell me which one is the lightest, SR505 or Artisan B5? I have the Artisan B4 Fretless, and it is really light, good for my shoulder... now i'm looking for a 5-string fretted light bass, and these two fellows looked nicer... I tested the SR505 from a friend, and have the Artisan B4FL. What about B5? Lighter or heavier than Ibanez? thanks, nice grooves!

Well the Cort is a real lightweight! I think the swamp ash B5 is lighter than the ibanez.
