The efforts of one person, even a young one, can make a difference in the lives and health of hundreds of others. Rasika Rajagopalan, a high school student in Durham, N.C., tells her story of organizing a community service project that started with a violin recital. Project Spirit Sight raised donations of both money and used eyeglasses to help with eye camps in two rural villages around Tiruvannamalai, India. Rasika and her mother traveled to these villages to assist Aravind Eye Hospital and local volunteer organizations in spreading the word and bringing people to the free clinics to receive treatment.

  • Amazing...great generosity of spirit, wonderful idea and superb execution...more so...since you did it at such a young age and from so far away (geographically)!!! Great Show!!! Wishing you more such endeavours...

  • So touching. Speaking as a person who is glasses dependent, the gift you've given these people is precious!

  • Beautiful! As a musician, I love seeing musicians making a difference in the world!
