Hey nice vid dude, i just went there and filmed a corsair 747 myself :D im actually underneath the plane, if you go to maho beach you have to stand under the jets, its AWESOME :D
Well, Sint Maarten does not have an ILS and as said all approaches are either on the local VOR or just plain and simple: Visual. ATC will indeed correct and initiate a go-around where needed.
For some airport at the world (for instance the old airport of Hong Kong: Kai Tak) pilots need a special license to land there. If this is also the case at Sint Maarten I don't know for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me...
Sorry - but without a glide slope - an airplane cannot land!! The glideslope is the angle in which the airplane takes to land!! If there is ANY pilot that cannot land on ANY airport - they should not be in an airplane!! Basically today, you use auto pilot to get there and then turn on autoland - and enjoy the ride. the computer will do it fo you!! Just don't touch anything and screw it up!!!
but as far as i know there aren't no ils in tncm rwy 09. They land vor or manually so there are no glideslope or smth. I think the secret of the airlines is sendind their best pilot only to St. Marteen :D:D
Hey dude, you are getting confused with the glidepath which is the angle of approach.
Glidescope is something different and part of the ILS kit.

No dufus - a glide slope is the angle that an airplane takes to land on the runway!!!! I've only been using this for about 17 years!!!

umm lol? you seriously think pilots dont train on ILS/"glide slope" failures and can only land the plane using a glideslope indicator?
think again mate.
