Victoria House Demolition

This is the demolition work of Victoria House in 2006 summer, which it will be transformed into a more modern student accomodaion. It was surprisingly quiet while the high-reach excavator was working the building from the top to the bottom in bringing down walls. Particularly remembered this house since I've tried to apply for it during the first year but received somewhere else a lot further from my department. It was a shame the entire process wasn't captured.

The new place looked good to me. And think about it this way... In a hundred years, the new place will be historical

Not only did they destroy an historic house, but they replaced it with a really ugly modernist pile...

They do this to some of the 60's buildings, this housex represent our history and beautiful. I wish these old styles could be brought back.... Looks better than today's stuff.

It isn't the Medieval stuff at threat, greedy developers always target Victorian because they know it isn't listed - its just so stupid to destroy an old house. Modern building are just souless boxes, all Victorian stuff should be listed.

Yeah that thing is butt ugly.Where I live,there used to be some pretty nice structures but the developers come in with trackhoes and turn everything to shit.
