There used to be an arcade in Westmount, where the movie theatre was.
The White Oaks store was shut down because people were dealing drugs out of it.
The Masonville store shut down because of Shoppers Drug Mart bitching and moaning 'about the noise' level. Odd thing about that, the manager lady from that ended up going to work at the Shoppers not long afterwards.

Masonville does have and has had a big arcade beside the movie theatre, I never saw one @ Westmount, though. I also hear they're expanding and enlarging the Cineplex Odeon to something more like SilverCity Masonville, not sure what good it will do to the mall, but it might help.

was it westmount that had the big arcade beside the movie theater or was that masonville?

There has been a worry in the area that the owners of the Westmount mall property will sell the area and rezone for High Density housing i.e. apartment buildings. My opinion: the last thing this area needs is more apartment buildings, but more community i.e. a rejuvenated Westmount Mall
Westmount Mall was much smaller than it is today at that time. And now the mall's future is quite uncertain as tenants flock to the new power centre to the south.

Westmount used to be quite nice. I got some good stuff at Eatons. I didn't know it was degrading now.

Westmount did very well for years but around 2001 a power centre started developing to the south, at Wonderland and Southdale. Many of the mall's major tenants have moved down there, including Bank of Montreal, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pizza Pizza, KFC, Taco Bell, LCBO, the Beer Store, and others. The anchors are all still there, fortunately - but I believe it's only a matter of time before they move out.

Thats too bad. Last time I was in London, I saw that centre developing, just north of the old Sears Outlet mall. My god, what a huge Loblaws I saw too!
