The first annual interfaith blessing of the animals was held on the Feast Day of Saint Francis, Saturday, October 4, 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The animals were the best behaved bunch of critters you could ever imagine. Blessing the animals were Mayor George Heartwell of Grand Rapids, Father Dick Host of St. Mary's Church, Pastor Gene DeJong of Keystone Church and Pastor Jay Schrimpf of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Entertainment was by Flutist Ed Clifford of the Grand Rapids Symphony and Singer/Songwriter Rachael Davis. Cider and donuts were served as well as treats for the pets. The day was glorious!
