Before u do this. Remeber to upgrade ur backtrack 4 with these commands. Remeber use sudo if not in root if in root dont need to use sudo

----------------------------------
sudo apt-get update

(Hit ENTER)
command 2
----------------------------------
sudo apt-get upgrade
----------------------------------
(Hit ENTER)
command 3

once u've done the top ur now ready to do the next in the video
1. download wicd 1.7.0 from this page
http://sourceforge.net/projects/wicd/files/
2. put it to a folder or on ur desktop. i like to keep it clean so i made a folder called My Documents then a folder called Programs... its just cleaner that way i moved the wicd-1.7.0.tar.bz2 to the Programs folder and extracted it there.
3. Go in the directory of extraction and open terminal in there then use these next commands. Again remeber if in root dont use sudo if not then use sudo
Command 1
----------------------------------
sudo python setup.py install
----------------------------------
(hit ENTER)
Command 2
----------------------------------
sudo python setup.py install
----------------------------------
(Hit ENTER)
4. Reboot backtrack 4 with this command in terminal
Command
----------------------------------
sudo shutdown -r now
----------------------------------
5. check that u have the new version of wicd 1.7.0
REMEBER: to go into Preferences and put in your wireless interface name
Open up terminal and type in sudo airmon-ng and hit enter and see what interface u have if wlan0 then type that into the wireless interface in Preferences of wicd manger... and there u have it happy days and have a good day...... stay safe
sudo shutdown -r now
or u can use just
sudo reboot
or sudo reboot forced
:)

On the wicd site it says it supports WPA2 which is what my router is using. In BT4, when I select the encryption type it only allows WPA 1/2 (Passphrase) or WPA 1/2 (Preshared key) and when I try to connect it says "Bad Password". I should mention that I am forcing wireless N exclusively on my router and not running in b/g/n mixed mode. Anyone else having this problem?
