A demonstration of what a XBOX is like when it's software modified (soft-mod). This is my son's XBOX which I installed a 500GB IDE HDD. You can copy any game that is in the DVD drive directly to the HDD and never need the game disc again. You can also transfer movies to the HDD.

@Cosmicjtburris You aren't able to go online but you can network into you Xbox via FTP.

Yes, you can, but, you can save discs by accessing the hard drive via FTP from your PC. This way you can restore the original file from the modified if it doesn't work, thus, saving you a disc. I got Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and bat-mobiles in GTA San Andreas. Google "How to FTP to my XBOX", you should find some info=]

is there enough room on the stock xbox hdd to download an emulator or 2? i want to soft mod for now till i order the mod chip, hdd, and front faceplate. there are a couple of other parts i am going to get like more ram and better cables to speed info xfer. what all did you do to your son's xbox anyway???

The XBOX has a stock HDD of 8GB. After all the necessary files needed for the XBOX to run you are left with about 4.7GB to play with. There were some XBOX released with a 10GB HDD but if you're in the US you probably don't have it. So to answer your question, you have 4.7GB of space to fill up with emulators=]
