I first heard this in 1977 in Tokyo, Japan. I was 17 (I'm 50 now!). My mother said, "You're the only one that would go to Japan (from America) and come back with a French record." But I just loved it. I couldn't figure out why they weren't playing this amazing music in America. PS. I was there to study Karate. All my cohorts were let into the exclusive Karate University of Nichidai but, as a female, I was denied entrance. Michel helped me get through the disappointment. Thanks, Luv.

Actually french pop kicked ass at the time. Michel Polnareff, Françoise Hardy, France Gall, Il Était Une Fois, Sylvie Vartan, Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Hallyday (oui il a quelques morceaux superbes; Le Pénitencier, Que Je T'Aime), Antoine, etc... Only to be eclipsed by the brits and americans at that time, but always to be rediscovered and cherished !

@bobvachon1095 Actually Jimmy Page played for some of Polnareff recordings when he was still a studio guitartist, as well as for Françoise Hardy and some other french artists at the time^^
