View my first metal clay project. I create a giraffe pendant. I had a great time making it and it was super easy.

  • Good vid, I think you will do even better in the future, and its apparent that you salt out and received some training, but remember that those are others peoples ideas, its obvious you got it going on up stairs, whit I would love to see is your own work.

  • Hello,

I have not received any training on metal clay other than what I read and I did watch videos here on youtube. I do have metalsmithing experience and that certainly helped, but this was my first metal clay project. I had never rolled metal clay prior to the video. I'm glad you thought so though. It's a great compliment!

  • that little lump of clay was 40 dollars?? what..

  • Im a kid and love working with clay got any tips on making a clay castle not a real castle but you get the idea.

  • so the cork clay doesn't work for pendants/projects like the girafe?

  • Hi Marcy, thank you for posting this video. It is very kind of you. I would like to make some of this type of jewelry, but I want to study a bunch first.

  • The giraffe was rolled out too thin to start, therefore, the cutting of the outline was rough. A tin food grade cutter is best, you can have then made to your requirements in the UK.

To apply cubic's, you need to apply a small indent to the surface whilst it is still damp, squeeze a small blob of syringe type into the indent and apply the cubic. Otherwise it will come out after firing.

  • Hi, What is the name of the first clay you got? did I hear correct Cork clay? please let me know. I love the final product I was pleasently surprised at the result.

  • Oh My Gosh! I want to go with you next time you go shopping! You have purchased some dream items for sure! You rock! Thank you for the video!

  • Hi there Marcy,

Just a tip for u which u may already now know. Rather than using the exacto knife to cut around your shapes, use a pin or needle tool u will find this much easier and there will be less rough edges around your work which u then need to sort out. Use the needle tool like a pencil and treat it as if u are drawing around your shape.

Hope this is helpful, let me know how u get on :)

Great video, keep u the good work.

  • the large brick of clay you show- is that metal clay? i couldnt quite hear you... i've been trying to find alternatives of pmc and art clay. i've heard about a powder you can mix yourself but i havent been able to find anything online.
