OTTB with a slab fracture. He was posted on ABR. After not seeing a whole lot of interest, I emailed Laurie at Ponytails to see who needed help more: Capital Crime or Careless Smoker. She had just found a home for Capital Crime, who is now back with Laurie at Ponytails. So I agreed to take Careless Smoker. His owners delivered him in December. The poor guy stepped off the trailer, in the dark, in the middle of nowhere NC, and you could just see the look in his eyes, "Oh boy, we're not at the track anymore, Auntie Em" . He settled in very well. Derby had been on stall rest since Thanksgiving. For a 4-year-old TB stuck in a stall for 8 months he was an ANGEL! Most folks would say any horse stuck in a stall for 8 months would go crazy, let alone a TB, a racer, and a youngun? Let's just say he should have been bouncing off the walls like Tigger on crack!
This is his happy ending!
