@algierssolja it's 2010, windows still doesn't have any compiz replacement.

@guitarman2134568 Kubuntu is actually a very bloated distro, KDE is full of fancy effects, so unless you prefer everything being buggy, bloated, slow, but looking nice, get kubuntu.
KDE is extremely bloated now. So gnome is now prefered if you have a slow computer.
-
@lmeister3 I prefer it too. Kde is useless, and many times complicated
-
I still prefer Gnome

you need compiz the latest beryl program
-
get kubuntu. 1, small memory, 2 alot easier to handle.
my advice is to not install it but to run it from a live cd. lot better and you dont need to partition yr hard drive.

The only thing I'm not too fond about with Kubuntu is that it looks more like Windows. I have yet to try Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, and Edubuntu (I was thinking get that for the school because the Ubuntu series knocks both Microsoft and Apple down).

can ou tell me how do you turn-around the qube(your desktop)
thanks in advance

I really cant see how that is justified unless your a windows user, the first guideline for Linux is that it is specifically not windows and you should not treat it that way.

dose kubuntu have the same stuff as ubuntu though? cuz im debating weather i should get ubuntu or kubuntu beryl and then once i do know ill dl the system put it on a CD and slap it in my labtop and run the thing like nver before
you may be right, but what's the point of NOT making a window move like that, if the technology allows it? it doesn't have to have a purpose. It's just fun. And, if you're paying a grand or more for a computer, why not have some fun with it, too?

lol, you probably are one of those windows-only ignorant tards.
okay, yes wow look at this open gl desktop, whats the point, well what they guy should have been showing is the resources it is using, like none. windows will crash opening some folders. I opened a folder with 22,001 files and my explorer window froze (im using a fast comp), i opened (in gentoo/sabayon [linux]) the same window, it not only loaded, but let me exit while it loaded.
