    A lot of former jazz men "became" "rockers." (Sort of, since to them, they were closely related styles in the early days.)

    Honkers Plas Johnson, Red Prysock, Lee Alan, and Freed's favorite, Sam "The Man" Taylor were jazz saxophonists who were also rhythm and blues...and rock n' roll....session men.
