you always have to have an exhaust system... all LEGAL laser cutters have at least 1 exhaust pipe, and another for the tube.........

Neat. I know quartz is transparent / semi-transparent / opaque around the UV to x-ray spectrum. but didn't realize silicon will pass IR. I wrote to hearasus (sp?) about UV and they were going on about how difficult it was to design quartz lamps due to the the quartz going opaque as they tried to shift from longer UV to X-rays. Both of those being clear, but going milky as it moves between the two. I had an a plan, but need a turbo pump to test it, and all the other high end ion gear.
