On 07 June 2007 the speedway track at the Norrköpping circuit played host to a match between Vargarna and Valsarna valid for the Second Division of the Swedish Speedway Championship. During heat number eight rider Kenny Olsson crashed violently against a fence and was knocked unconcious immediately, slipping into a coma. At 15h38 of the following day the artificial respirators that kept Olsson alive were turned off, and he died moments later.

Air fences are the biggest improvement in speedway period. RIP Kenny, speedway is the safest its ever been, i remember Hackney the usa riders hated the place after Denny died, remember Shooey saying it wasnt the track that was crap but the soddin fence!!

Just one little adjustment would have enabled kenny to still be with us - air fences. Its a real shame to see someone dying while just doing their job. Lets just hope that air fences are going to be COMPULSARY soon. R.I.P kenny

i witnessed 2 deaths at hackney speedway track -vic harding -and paul machine -,,its sickening to see people losing their lives doing the sport they love ,and all in the name of entertaining us ,,its sad to see ,as these riders have the bottle to put their lives on the line all in the name of sport ,,speedway is real mens sport

i almost broke my neck on track once (was only two fractured vertebra instead)
