A little too breath-ee for me, but certainly a legitimate jazz artist, improvising stylistically and bringing the music very much off the sheet, what hits you is, as said by others so often, sex appeal.

That's a perfect comparison -- Julie's voice had the smoky, sultry, sensual quality, with undertones of sadness and melancholy, of a jazz saxophone played by a master. And she was gorgeous to boot.
