Both the Queen Mary II and QE2 are British ships, thus they have the "RMS" prefix which stands for Royal Mail Ship including the Titanic which was the RMS Titanic, etc.

Well, I'll have to do some more research on that !
According to Wikipedia, they say The first RMS Queen Mary sailed the Atlantic from 1936 to 1967. Queen Mary 2 had the Royal Mail Ship (RMS) title conferred on her, as a gesture to Cunard's history, by Royal Mail when she entered service in 2004 on the Southampton to New York route. I traveled from NY to Bremerhaven, Germany on the German ocean liner, The M.S. Berlin back in 1958. MS meaning Motor Ship. Anyway, I will do more research on that!
