  • There are a few important notes missing:

    - 1st: be carful not to lose the power button

    - 2nd: the GPS antntenna is connected by a thin cable to the motherboard

    - 3rd: the battery is fixed onto the case with a glue ribbon. It is hard to get it off

    - 4th: insert the Ir window before you push the motherboard up, otherwise you would break the Ir LEDs off, when forcing the window into the case

    but otherwise: nice video

  • Place a small piece of Scotch tape over the power button and the red IR cover to keep them in place before you open the case.

Try to keep the bottom of the case flat on the work surface and don't jiggle it around after you've removed the screen and circuit board. There are loose parts like the jog wheel that will slip out of place.

  • Very useful video. Thanks. anndimo3 makes some good points though, there are loose parts and dangers to look out for.

  • One further note, you're about to lose everything in internal memory. Be sure to hotsync your Garmin before doing any of this.
