A clip from 'On Safari' from the orchestra suite "Blue Letters From Tanganyika" by John Hardy. The music is inspired by the adventures described in the blue airmail letters that John's mother sent home to England when she was working as a young teacher in Africa.

'They were always welcomed by the people they met on the way, and the landscapes they passed through were truly spectacular; mountains, foothills, plains and The Great Rift Valley (the cradle of Homo Sapiens). They saw monkeys, elephants, hippos, buffaloes and lots of crocodiles, as well as many smaller animals, birds, snakes and insects. They often heard lions, but never saw them. Although it sounds wonderful, it was actually very hard. Anne had almost no money from her organization but was responsible for all the mission schools in an area about the size of England.' (from the album booklet)
