Match Summary
With the finals becoming an all American affair, the third place match for the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Cologne shaped up to a rematch between the two finalists of the Season One Championships at DreamHack. While FnaticMSI proved the victor in that tournament, at this level of play victory is never a certainty.
In the first game of the series, Fnatic got off to a bit of a rocky start in lane, with Jax feeding first blood to Rumble at top thanks to an overzealous use of an offensive flash. Bottom, on the other hand, fared much better for Fnatic, putting significant pressure on the enemy tower. As mid game approached, Fnatic seemed to seize the upper hand, taking all three of their opponents' initial towers in rapid succession.
Things turned around again, however, when Millenium caught Tristana making an over-aggressive push at top, allowing them to even the tower count. With the gold count equalized, Millenium began a series of aggressive advances, pushing down turret after turret before heading to take Baron Nashor. While a nimble play by Nocturne managed to snatch the buff from out of Millenium's hands, the undaunted French powerhouse was still able to win the ensuing fight before charging down mid lane to seal victory in game one.
