  • You need to watch this again and this time listen.

The message is about Long term development and allowing the kids to have fun.

  • His perspective on youth sports is excellent! There is much to be said about letting kids play sports on their own. They learn to set rules, handle conflict, and compromise among themselves.

  • After a decade now coaching AAA and now Major Junior A, Don, I STILL WATCH THIS VIDEO THREE TIMES A YEAR, every word was nothing less than PERFECTION!

  • Great video! Having coached a Mite team, I can tell you that most kids didn't care as much about winning or losing, but they DID care if they got ice time and what position they got to play. The kids that cared WAY too much about winning? Well, that always came directly from their parents who are exactly as Don described. For the kids to be great, they have to love the game and not love "just winning". Otherwise, they are playing for the wrong reasons.

  • what a dumb fuck--first thing he does is take a shot at the parents-then goes into a story about confronting a coach like he is the parent. I wonder if the coach he scolded just thought to himself, another parent who thinks he knows it all.

  • can you say OVER RATED

  • Very inspiring message! It couldn't have come at a better time! (thanks to one of our mini mites coaches-thank you MS). As a very competitive Mites Youth Hockey Parent, I can honestly say, IT IS HARD to sometimes sit back and not say anything and let the sport be "about the kids"! Our Mites team has played so hard this season with unfortunately, no wins and only one tournament left. Even though a win would feel great, my son enjoying the game & his love for hockey IS what really matters!

  • great message. Lucia has knowledge and good advice that all should listen to.
