I agree with most of what he had to say except for the winning and loosing parts..Those always play some role and ultimately winning is one of the major drives of the whole competition process. Granted I dont think it needs to be driven into a kids mind so strongly at a young age but it does still play a part and everyone who has won knows its a good feeling and not such a great feeling to loose. Its a very fine line to tread for sure.

As a professional soccer player for 17 years and now very much involved in coaching youth soccer in the state of MD, I can say that this message can be said and used in our soccer communities for parents, players and coaches. GREAT SPEECH! Thanks for your message.

Most of the kids I coach forget whether they've won or lost five minutes after the game ends. The kids that worry about losing do so because their parents complain about it all the way home from the rink.

It's kids sports. It isn't life and death. Relax, it's just a game!

Think about it.

His perspective on youth sports is excellent! There is much to be said about letting kids play sports on their own. They learn to set rules, handle conflict, and compromise among themselves.
