This is my Mame arcade machine. I get asked about this bad boy a lot, so here it is. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask away.

  • This Cab ROCKS. I love the simplicity of the SF button lay out which works with pretty much any game and the track ball is very low-key.

I'm working on my own cab and mame set up. I've been looking at Mamewah but I have NO experience with this sort of thing. The most I've done is installed mame32 on my computer and played games. Where did you go for all your research? All in all, what does a good cab set usually cost (assuming I can get software free that is)?

    THANK YOU!!!!

  • @v6817255t hey thanks for the comment!

The software I used for the front end is called Mala. If you do a search for "mala front end" you should be able to find it. Sadly I had to figure a lot of it out myself when I first started messing with it, however I would be willing to be there are tons of resources for the front end now if you search for "mala front end setup".

  • @v6817255t as far as researching the rest of the cab, I used lucid's arcade as my base. His cab and plans were really the best way to go when I started my cab many years ago. Though there were quite a few changes I made from his original concept. The big 2 being the monitor and keyboard encoder.

Cost is a tough one because it really does depend on many factors. To have something like mine I would say would probably be in the $1700 - $1900 range.

  • Awesome cab man.. looks great. I had the same problem with the glass monitor cover. I swapped it out for a 3/4'' piece of plexi and it looks pretty authentic.

  • yeah I had plexi on there first, but being the smoker that I am , it didn't work out. It was much more of a magnet to tar than the glass is. So I may just put some higher quality glass on it or something. Cause the crap on there now is very cheap. It feels like if you even look at funny it will crack hah.

  • hey nice machine. I agree that the monitor is important and im looking for a good one. I like the one you use, which one is it? I know you say wells gardner but do you know the model number? and how big is it? looks huge

  • not sure the model number anymore to be honest. Plus I also get the feeling they changed them by now (I got mine years ago). Just get any size from that will fit your cab and make sure it does the tri resolution thing (their site will have more detail on this).

The size of the mon is 27". Which looks even larger as the bezel doesn't cover as much of the tube as say a TV case would.
