McCaskill: Stop funding construction in Afghanistan, build roads and bridges at home

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today introduced a measure that aims to strip funds for large-scale construction projects in Afghanistan and redirect those resources for use in the construction of roads and bridges in America. McCaskill, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, delivered a floor speech today in which she explained her plan to limit U.S. Defense Department spending on unsustainable infrastructure projects in Afghanistan. The limits would not affect any resources directly supporting U.S. troops. The savings that result from the limits would be redirected from infrastructure projects in Afghanistan to road and bridge projects in the United States where there is currently an $2 trillion backlog in road, bridge, and infrastructure needs.

When it comes to fiscal responsibility, McCaskill is a FAILURE!

She voted Yes on BOTH Bush's & Obama's Stimulus bills for an unfathomable cost to all of us (3 yrs later, the CBO #'s are still spinning upwards).

She voted for Health-care Deform which the CBO projects will cost Americans $1.76 Trillion over the next 10 years.

Ok usa stopped funding Afghanistan. Who would pay for their troops and help their goverment financially. their country has been destroyed for a long time. usa destroyed it and usa should built it. usa have to fund afgahnistan by the time it stands by its own feet. Americans are rich and have good lives whereas afghans are poor and suffer from horrible events that happen everyday in Afghanistan. WE shoud care about each other we are human. if i don't help u, u don't help me who would help us.

This is all political showmanship. Claire knows that this is moving peas around. She acts like she has behaved fiscally yet she voted for a trillion dollar stimulus and a trillion dollar health control bill. She is merely trying to position herself as a "moderate" in order to get re-elected. Glossing over the fact that she "forgot" to pay half a million dollars in personal property taxes on her private jet among other things.
