My social studies teacher in 6th grade challenged us to learn this song. I didn't understand it at the time, but I know every word and it made me curious about everything. I learn on my own who/what everything mentioned was. TEACHERS ARE AWESOME

Yeah same here but instead i'm in the 8th grade and we have been learning about Ronald Reagon and what happened in 1986 with that whole challenger space craft that blew up the first civilian. Although we have to memorize this by May 23 or on the 30th for a school Paragon Night and we have to dress like them in the 70s-80s so far i've got my clothes ready and i'm ready to perform!

I see comments about middle schoolers having to do stuff with this song and it makes me feel old. I listened to Billy Joel well before middle school and looked up/ask my mom what the different stuff was. By the time we did stuff in middle school my history teacher was surprised that anyone knew what this stuff was. I also feel like a nerd again...*sigh*
