G-Das' Kirtan Treasures ~ Shivaratri 2010 @ BYS ~ Stringer, Lugassy

I have recorded and filmed nearly every kirtan wallah who has toured the US in the last decade, many multiple times. With Maharaji's grace these brothers and sisters in kirtan have allowed me rare and unlimited access, enabling me to record them in settings ranging from living rooms to theaters of thousands. One by one I have created a library of hundreds of hours of kirtan and, in the process, been blessed to chronicle the growth of Bhakti Yoga, the kirtan movement.

Dave Stringer and I were sitting in my living room last week when Dave suggested that I begin sharing my rare and unique library with the world. He strongly encouraged me to post 10 minutes from each tape, every week. The concept of seva in this act truly inspired me. As a result I created a YouTube channel: "GanapathyDas's Channel", and a page titled "Ganapathy Das Kirtan Treasures." The sites URL is:

In honor of Dave, his friendship, support and inspiration, this first offering for "Kirtan Treasures" was recorded at Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, CA, on the night of Shivaratri 2010. Dave led chants backed by Joey Lugassy, C.C. White, Ambika, Josh Brill & The All Star Kirtan Ensemble. The sound from the mixing board was not the best, with some brief distortion at one point, but the energy in the room was out of this world.
