This fan works better than the eco fan as it used a coper pipe heatsink for cooling it will always remain cooler (thus working) no matter where it is placed on the stove. The ecofan (I purchased) if placed at the front of the stove eventually heats up the heatsink and stops working (no temperature difference either side of the peltiers) the ecofan depends on the cooler air coming from the back of the stove to keep the heatsink cool.

I used multiple peltier plates wire in series basically to save money as peltiers (TEC or TEG) which are specifically made for thermal electric generation cost about £15 each, mine cost £7 for the pair !

If anyone wants me to make one for them message me (Paypal)
If anyone wants to know what parts (model number) where used, just ask....

  • Hi Finchpaul, i have the same question as a few other people on here, i'm just wondering if you know the rpm and voltage of the motor as i am trying to choose a motor for a similar project. Also it would be great to see a video of how you made your fan blades and how you attached them to the motor. Thanks. James

  • @izzzzzz6

    Motor Link: Ebay Item: 280312836570

    Box Tubing: 160326529345

Fixing the engine to the heatsink, i used a small bit aluminium slotted between the vents in the heatsink (resin to secure) and a metal zip tie to hold it on securely with two small blobs of resin underneath (heat resistant resin, found on ebay)

You must use two peltier elements in series to power this though...

  • @finchpaul

The blades i basically (copied off another well known brand) made out of a sheet of aluminium and used resin to fix a sprocket in the centre.

  • @finchpaul

The heatsink is fixed onto the box tubing using two brass nuts n bolts (brass better), a small length of ali across the top of the heatsink bolts runing through either end into the box tubing clamping the peliters in place.

And for the rest of you wonding about purchasing one, i will make some more in may 2012 (few months), please message me then if your still interested...

  • I've made the very same thing, I've used 8 peltier cells and few heat sinks which outputs 8v (ish), I did it to use by camp fires; it's just enough of a small light OR charger OR small radio. Support I should perfect the design to give a little more power. I'd be interested seeing ur designs if u decide to make one.

  • 1). 2 x peltier 60w Tec1

    2). Box aluminium tubing

    3). Copper tubing (protect wires)

4). 1 dell optima heatsink (doesn't really matter as long a similar!)

    5). Thermo heatsink paste

6). 1.5mm Aluminium sheet for blades (made similar to ecofan blades

7). Nuts bolt for securing heatsink to alum box.

As the peltiers where only 60w I used two wired in series this creates ample voltage. Good luck..

Anyone want more details, just message I will eventually reply. Sorry for the delays to most of u guy
