The final project for my ANIM713 - Drawing in Motion class at SCAD-Atlanta. The assignment was to do a rotoscope of live-action footage and then use an artistic style that accents a particular emotion. My topic was 'frustration'.

The character starts off with smooth contours, but as the animation progresses and the stress piles on his outline gets progressively rougher and more sketchy. I'm not very good at drawing, but that actually worked to my advantage in this case; it didn't HAVE to be crisp and clean to work.

I can't say I love doing rotoscopes, but I had a lot more fun with this one than I did with my midterm assignment.

  • The change of line contour conveys the frustration well. I also like the green nerves flaring up as the character becomes increasingly frustrated. Great job, keep it up!
