LUCY KOMISAR INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST International Steering Committee Tax Justice Network LATEST CAMPAIGN NEW And the winner is . . . CITIGROUP
The Tax Justice Network is pleased to announce that its nomination of global banking giant Citigroup for an award for corporate irresponsibility for aiding private clients and businesses to avoid tax in developed and developing countries has been successful. The award was made at a ceremony on 25th January 2006 in Davos, Switzerland. Further details about the award ceremony can be found here. A summary of TJN's nomination can be downloaded here. According to The Guardian's City Diary, the award illustrates the downsides of sponsoring this high profile gabfest.

Lucy Komisar is a free-lance journalist specializing in international affairs who, since 1997, has written on the offshore bank and corporate secrecy system for publications that range from The Nation to The Wall St. Journal. For several decades before that she reported from Europe, Latin American, Asia, and Africa , with a focus on democratization, human rights and security issues.

Her articles have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, The Progressive and other publications in the U.S. and Europe .

She is the author of books on Corazon Aquino, the U.S. public welfare system, and feminism. She is a past John Simon Guggenheim fellow and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation grantee. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations ( New York ) and of the Drama Desk, the organization of New York theater critics.
