Immensely better than Van Halen!
Halen just gets boring more quickly and what he is capable of doing (mostly finger tapping all the time) is just the same more easily acquirable blues riff spattered across the fretboard - just practiced heavily ... which (although it is what malmsteen does), at least Yngwie uses a variety of complex frygian modes, arpeggios and diminished crematics etc. to inspire a state of awe in all those who listen.
