  • Is their a limit for memory

  • @Br0wnGuy26 It would depend on what your computer was designed to handle & what operating system you have installed. The best way to find out would be to google your computer model's supported RAM.

If you have a 32-bit operating system (most versions of Windows installed before Windows 7) then your computer won't be able to use more than 3 gigs of RAM (most new computers nowadays come with a 64-bit operating system that supports larger RAM). Under the start menu, check "about my computer".

how does a computer start up

  • @kipper09100 I only have a rough idea. Once you hit the power button, a BIOS chip (I think) checks what computer components are installed and normally accesses the hard drive for instructions on what operating system (like what version of windows or linux) is installed and runs it within the RAM (the memory that holds onto what the computer is currently "thinking"). A google search might bring up a better explanation - maybe wikipedia has a page on it.

Hey don't you have to connect 2 cords to your hard drive? One to be connected to the motherboard and the other to the power suply?
