So you told me ,that there are no historical records of the commentary from early Islamic scholars which means earlier Muslims believed this verse has another meaning.

Second Yasbahoon means swimming and in the translation of qurandotcom it is also translated as swimming. Since there is NO proof for you that early Muslims believed in this meaning , this meaning is derived when science comes in 20th century. And this happens with every language, not just Arabic.

@shininglamb There was no explanation for it. It's just been there written in the Quran for centuries. The Arabic term used is "yasbahoon" which can mean both following an orbit and rotating about its own axis which is true, the sun does rotate about its own axis AND has a particular orbit. The sentence isn't metaphorical in any way; it's crystal clear. Let me know when you want the next quranic scientific verse.
