  • I have an M44 coming my way this week. I can't wait, been wanting one for a long time.

  • @ThePechanator2 They are a special design, and I really like the 54R cartridge. I hope in the not to distant future to get a M91/30 or another Finn M39. I sold my old M39. It was a great rifle.

  • @jetfuel545 M39 is like the holy grail of Mosin Nagants

  • @ThePechanator2 And like a dummy I sold It. I had it set up with a side rail so I could put an SVD type scope on or a mount and my own optic which i did. I handloaded for it and it was superbly accurate with .308 175gr matchkings, 180gr Sierra prohunters, and most accurate with Lapua D166 200gr bullets. All 3 of these would shoot sub 1" 5 shot groups at 100yd. With the scope it was 13lb though. it was a tank. I want to get an unissued one, and mod it for a scope again.

  • @ThePechanator2 With surplus ammo it did not shoot to good though. may be 2 1/2 with heavy ball, and 4" with light ball ammo. I have a K98 Mauser right now I had been debating scoping. I just have shot yugo 196gr brass case ammo, and it does pretty good like 2 1/2- 3 at 100. To scope this one it is very expensive though. Dont know if its worth it. Im not really sure how good it would shoot with handloads and I dont have dies or components for it. the M39 is easier and better for scope

  • @ThePechanator2 But I have been saving my pennies for an AR 20" so anything else is going to have to take a back seat for the time being. Your Armalite is one of my favorite. I would really like that 20" model with a flat top.

  • @ThePechanator2 I have to see if they have the H-bar model with a 1x8 or 1x7 twist, so i could load heavy match bullets for long range work. I know the National Match Armalite has 1x8 but not sure about the service model option

  • how much did you get that for? im just wondering i might buy one soon

  • you got a really nice one. One of the best stocks I have seen on a M44. It's more fun to shoot it with bayonet extended. But I do better with it retracted. By that my just may be for me.

  • I picked up a cheap M44 with a cut down stock and big rubber butt pad ...clearly used as a bush rifle ...BUT the bore was good and the general condition was good... its very accurate..ideal for bush hunting but good for longer range too...recoil is amazing if using Barnaul 202grain SP rounds ..Love my M44 !

  • I just ordered a type 53 chinese mosin carbine from SOG!

  • @truthisyesu yes the 91/30 is the long one

  • I have heard that bayonets make a rifle less accurate. Comm Block mounts their different so it may not be a problem.

  • do you have a recoil absorbing butt plate on it?

  • Noisy bastards of rifles, but they are excellent in NZ bush for hunting.
