Voting is taking place in the Florida primary today and the mainstream media is going crazy over polls and numbers that are coming in and Newt Gingrich's upcoming demise. Instead, Alyona will tell you about a new study out today from the Wesleyan Media Project that compares political campaign spending thus far, to the same point in the 2008 elections. It found while spending on ads by candidates has decreased by about 40%, spending on political ads by outside groups is up 1,600%.

  • 99% of Americans want election reform but their Elected representatives dont care. Why arent Americans outraged?

  • MSNBC doesn't miss this and you really shouldn't keep using them as examples. Alex Wagner, whom you featured, has discussed it, along with Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Matthews, and Ed Schultz. I'm sure others on MSNBC have reported on it as well, and those I mentioned also reported on your other misses, usually.

  • @tenagliac I'm pretty sure they are deductible. Even if they aren't, the current system is corrupt as fuck.

  • Perhaps all donations should go to the "party" and they dole it out based either on fairness or on the candidate they want to promote over the others. Are political donations deductible ? They shouldn't be.
