  • His name is "Bear".

  • as a professional dog groomer myself, the myth that dogs feel better in the summer with a haircut isnt true. They sweat thru the paw pads, the hair actually acts as insulation to keep them cool, just like the insulation in your house. It keeps the cold air in. Trimming the hair is fine but you should shave them down to nothing. Just shaving the hair on the bottom of the feet between the paw pads is good because that's where they sweat from.

  • wow he really looks like a lion...

  • he is a gorgeous dog, but may I suggest checking on his ears, especially right one, for infection?

  • my chow chows name was also bear..rip :(

  • hermoso chow!

  • @lml8722 What about letting them play in water? My chow always loved to splash around in water when it was hot

  • Awesome Chow!

  • my 11month old chow died today.. i miss him so much

  • It isn't about "style" to keep their hair long. The fur actually insulates the skin, which keeps them cooler during the summer.

Also, they have a serious risk of sunburn if you cut their hair too short.
