crocker was sick at the Athens olympics especialy early in the meet

thorpe, hoogie, schoeman, popov, phelps, lezak, crocker, klim, sullivan. not just greats of their time, but some all time greats in this race.
you have to say that crocker cost the US the gold, really bad leg from him. much better to have gary hall in there.
given all that talent, what is remarkable is hoogie splitting over a second faster than anyone else!
