@immicontfla Actually you are the one who is wrong... There is data which clearly shows that there is no language maintenance within families, i.e. the language is not passed down. By the third and fourth generations, only 20% of the population holds onto the language AT HOME; the others speak English. The only reason for the high number of Spanish speakers is because they are first generation immigrants. Their grandchildren will probably not speak any Spanish.

I do not like the Spanish language!!!!

@immicontfla Trolls like ivan7d7 are just disgusting liars. Just ignore these trolls. I live in CA, and some jobs require us to lear not only medical terminology/special lab techniques but also Spanish. If Hispanics are willing to make efforts to learn English, we health workers in CA won't ever need to learn Spanish. Hispanics can go fuck themselves. Any kind of discrimination against them is pretty much justified in my book. I refuse to see my tax dollars wasted on Spanish education.

@PIANOPHUNGUY You might want to do more research on your data. Look at South America. The population of Brazil is as large as the population of all Spanish speaking countries in South America combined. If Brazil does not give a shit about you, neither will the US.

majority rules, Hispanics at best make up only 17 percent of the population plus more than 50 percent of all Hispanics are illegals. so why give them any rights? i am proposing in Italy to legislate that any illegal immigrant will have absolutely no rights, not even human rights because they are the number one murderers of Italians in Italy. dont care what America, Britain, Russia or France thinks. we will force our will against them.
what that proffesor is saying is true cuz i know alot of 3rd 4th and even 2nd generation latinos dat dont speak spanish at all..they may know a few words in spanish but they'd mostly use english to communicate.
i dont think the english language is in danger at all

@ivan7d7 - You and the professor are both wrong because there are hundreds of thousnds of Spanish speakers coming into Miami and are coming in faster than they are learning English and this leaves a majority of 75 percent only speaking Spanish. The Miami Herald published an article in 1998 stating Miami had 600,000 prople that could only speak Spanish & is equal to 30 percent of MiamiDadeCountys
2 million people who can't speak English.
Many Cubans came 50yrs.ago should know 500 words by now!
