Sound comparison between 2 logitech ipod docks recorded with high quality cam. The purefi is a newer version(the one on the left). Both are maxed out in volume. Things i have noticed in sound. mm50 actually has a higher s/n ratio so it can achieve higher volume but both are pushed out of their limits around the same volume. mm50 also has a more balanced overall sound and a more lively presentation. Purefi sounds gritty and metallic in treble. mm50 has slightly less upper bass and low mids. The surround sound feature is very artificial on the purefi's. mm50 is much better in this respect. Soundwise id take the mm50. But the things you are getting with the pure fi is a remote that can control the ipod(both have remotes but mm50 is very limited). A battery life indicator shown by 3 leds.(very useful) A power adapter that u can wrap the cord around. All of which fit in the included case. The mm50's case can not hold the charger. Overall their both good and are among the top rated docks.

Things to note
-s/n ratio is slightly higher through the aux in on both units
-Drivers are different (passive drivers are the same)
-purefi slightly wider and shorter
-The speakers were being driven hard and u can hear the drivers playing out of their range

  • hey just how loud is the max volume with these speakers...? would they compare well to the loudness of the bose sounddock portable?

    cheers

  • No, these would not compare with the sound dock in terms of volume. The bose can go a decent amount louder. If u want loud volume in a portable speaker get an altec lansing im7 or imt800. If I was to decide I would create my own. With a sealed lead acid battery and amp.

  • @Chunkyz209 MM50 goes louder, Pure-Fi has more low end, but Basslover can go into more detail about the pro's and con's.

  • which one is better? i just bought myself a pure fi

  • @basslover352 cheeers for the reply, i ended up purchasing the pure-fi 2 for $ 150 australian which is pretty cheap! compared to my mate who has a bose sounddock im pretty happy with the volume, considering he did spend 400 dollars on the bose, overall its a good little unit, especially for the price!

  • Yes, I think so, I use it whit my iphone 3g

  • the touch 3g works with pure fi anywhere 1?
