  • Cool tank, and very healthy looking turtles! I got two MAP turtles a couple of months back now and they are just amazing! Such great pets as they are so interesting and so low maintenance! Have you tried feeding them some of the other frozen food blocks? They do one with turkey heart and shrimp etc in which goes down very well with mine! Also I was going to ask, what are those tiny fish that I can see in the tank, and how warm do you have your water? Thanks!

  • The tiny fishes are feeder mollies. Also, the water temperature is at room temperature, I dont have a heater or chiller. Im in Hawaii and our year round average temperature here is 75-80degrees. No I haven't tried any of the frozen type foods for them. I try to feed them foods that they would eat if they were in the wild, mostly just worms, fish, shrimp, tiny-baby crabs, greens (romaine lettuce), and turtle pellets.

  • Hi I have a Red Ear Slider Turtle would my turtle get along with these ones?

  • Yes, they should get along fine. However, Red Ear Sliders do grow much larger than Maps do. Maps grow to max sizes of approx. 5-8inches, where as Sliders will grow approx. 10-13inches.

  • What do you feed them?

  • I feed them aquatic turtle pellets & sticks daily, dried blood worms every other day, dried shrimp or krill about 2 times a week, and whenever I have fresh shrimp or fish for dinner I'll cut up small pieces and give it to them, they just love it. Once in awhile I'll put a romaine lettuce leaf in the tank for them to pick on. Thats about it! I do spoil them!

  • Thanks! That would be a great size tank to use, have fun!!

  • This tank in the video a a 20gal/long. However, I have them in a 55gal now, they are bigger at about 5inches (shell, head to tail) and I have a total of 4 turtles now. They are doing just great! I got them from our local pet store (I know the owner).

  • No, I don't think they are too friendly. They are actually very skittish by nature. However, you can hold them but they'll keep trying to away. They are basically the type of turtles that you would just enjoy watching, as far as handling them and interacting with them that wont really happen much due to their skittish nature.

  • beuatiful tank! nice turtles i want to get 2 of them to put in my new 120 gallon tank
