I'm afasamoa/palagi, Mom was samoan and when I was little in Florida she played this song always while cleaning house. I did'nt know what the song meant but I knew what alofa ia oe meant and those words were part of the lyrics so I always thought it meant loving someone...few years later my mom died when I was 12. MOM, I understand the lyrics now. FA'ASOLO MAI PEA NAI OU MANATU,UA NA'O LAGONA O LOTA FIA VA'AI ATU. E MANATUA I TAIMI UMA LAVA NAI OU FOLIGA E TUMAI PEA PEI OSE ATA...FA MOM..

Lagona means "to hear" but also "to feel".. and this song is talking about feeling the other person's love despite the distance that separates them.. Love it!

Literally..."Hear the Love"
As it pertains to the Samoan Language, "I can hear your Love" as in, after your death or absence, your love lingers in thought and memory.
