Orlando City Commission voted unanimously to move forward to vote on the passage of Central Florida's first domestic partnership registry. During the public hearing chambers were filled with community members dressed in red to show their support. Commissioners Patty Sheehan, Daisy Lynum, and Tony Ortiz all provided heartfelt testimony in support of this critical ordinance.

Equality Florida worked hand in hand with Mayor Dyer and advocates from Orlando Anti-Discrimination Ordinance Committee (OADO) to draft what will become Central Florida's first domestic partnership registry.

When passed, the registry will officially recognize LGBT families who live, work, and play in the City of Orlando by providing them with a number of vital rights and protections. Additionally, a domestic partnership registry will support our local economy by recruiting and retaining the best talent.
