i learned to place my thumb under the neck, but most people play their thumb on the side of the neck. i thought it was that my hands were to small, but that is not the reason. I think if a player places their thumbs under the neck, the entire neck and finger board is available to them, except for the 5th hand positions and up. I have tried to place my thumb on the side of the neck, but it is to impossible. what do you think about that?
