I love this episode for all the reasons already mentioned.
And I didn't see the Albert's trick coming. But if I thought back to his very first episode, it was all there. He was mischievous, smart. Having been on his own, he knew how to fend for himself. He had watched Mary cope with her illness and seen her behavior. What he did was so true to the character. GREAT writing.
