This video talks about how my passion for ColecoVision started, why I decided to program new games for it, and what was done during the last 10 years of homebrew developements.

Please note that is my personal view on the subject, but the facts are real.

Thanks again to all the Coleco related web site, and to AT&T text-to-speech democore web page.

  • Thanks for making great games! If anyone releases new Coleco games, hit me up, Im a firm supporter of the scene. I have about half the homebrew releases in this video, so I try to buy as many homebrew Coleco games that I can afford. If anyone has any homebrew games to sell, hit me up!!!!

  • there are new colecovision games (to be) released this summer 2009. one of them is Pooyan and the other one is Mario Bros... both can be find at a web site called CollectorVision. I think they accept pre-order.

  • Since my last message, there was at least 3 releases of new Colecovision games : Mario Bros, Ghost and Zombies, Penguin Land in cyan cartridges, and a few more I can't remember now.

It's a very prolific year for the ColecoVision homebrew scene, but the sad part is nobody seems to know it.

  • I remember 1 game but cant remember the company who was going to make it. The name of the game is Apple Cider Spider. It was in my memory at least. Spinnaker or Sierra.

  • Based on wikipedia : Apple Cider Spider for the Commodore 64 and Apple II, SierraVision.

Third party developers did decided to publish their games for consoles and then change their minds to go with computers versions during the period we call the "video game crash".

In 1983, ColecoVision game system was not in a crash period at all, so I'm a little bit skeptic, but, it's not impossible that Apple Cider Spider was planned to be release for this game system.

  • Love your stuff!

Any chance of you making some of the more famous "vaporware" Colecovision games like Ripcord, Side track or Tunnels and Trolls?

  • I have no clue at the moment about how far is the development of the homebrew projects started by other programmers. Most of the time, I'm getting the information from the programmers themself and some forums like one originaly only about Atari related stuff at Atariage.

But I can tell you that I know the existence of at least 1 Ripcord project, 1 Side Trak project, and I've heard that one programmer was planning to give it a try to make a Tunnels and Trolls game for the ColecoVision.
