load of crap. if we stopped breeding dogs for specific traits than we could never hav the life saving siant bernards, or retrieving labradors, etc. nothing is wrong with breeding dogs responsibley. im totally against buying from petstores and such. but owning a pure bred is a more secure way of knowing what ur getting.

It's sad that people won't look at the general idea and argument, but they look at minor details that don't really have anything to do with the idea.

Both groups think that one race is superior. They use the same reasoning as each other, but just happen to apply it to different situations.

pull an analogy with racism. And there lies the FAIL: A dog-race is a

race created through breeding and forced, selective breeding. (Human) Racism itself is an wrong analogy from that fact on humans. Human subspecies, that is the correct and it does not equal a race at all, are a product of natural [sic!] selection, not foced breeding.

Consequence: Humans equal themselves, dogs not.

Food for thought: Maybe we should require genetic testing prior to breeding humans? No one requires it of humans and we have to deal with unfortunate consequences afterwards as tax paying individuals. This is not intended to offend anyone, this is just an example of how too many requirements (aka breeding animals) become unrealistic. After all, we're also just animals and there's a whole lot of untested breeding going on.

I love peta but hate the fact that PETA is making the AKC look very bad. they don't even meet like that. the AKC even allow mix breeds. there is just breed standards for different kinds of dogs. if there wasn't we would never have a Golden retriever, Doberman, or any kind of dog. I bet there wouldn't even be dogs existing. the reason why we humans domiscated dogs was to help us, but if not, there would be no dog.

@Frizzgal101 ....because by your logic we could ethically breed humans to give it quality we like for our own personal amusement or desires. Subjugating animals for sexual purposes is just as justifiable.

hahaha, amazing, and powerful video, really gets the message across. My family has owned 4 dogs, keep in mind we have only had dogs for about 6 years, and they have all been mutts. Before, i always wanted a pure breed husky, now all i will accept is a mutt, they are just beautiful, and amazing dogs, like all dogs, but the fun part is you never know what you are going to get, we have brothers that look like completely different dogs, but they are part of the same litter.
