... i get it... its foreshadowing the eggs are the eyes (the option the joker gives doctor arkham is the chicken or the egg) kill the chicken (wife) or cut out the eggs(eyes) there are two eyes.... two eggs.... hmm foreshadowing the jokers escape and elaborate plot maybe?

Well, that's the thing about comics. They keep using the same characters again and again and again, in so many different stories by countless writers, so it ends up with the true mythos of the character getting completely mixed up. Look at Wolverine. The best thing you can do is choose the story you like and stick with it.

But in it the Joker says that even he doesn't know what happened to him. The 'falling in a vat of chemicals' story could just be made up, like all his other ones.
