you can learn alot on your own.. ive been self taught and have taught others how to play.. .. getting stoned while working on riffs definately helps alot hahaha

Sweet I started with 3 then jumped to 5, but yeah starting with three is a lot easier. I could never find any good teachers so I just self taught everything I know. While learning to sweep I just got stoned and kept repeating the same arpeggio until it was natural to me.

the rhythm guitarist in our band works on the 5 string.. and i was trying to tell him to start with the 3.
did you have someone show you how to sweep physically or did you figure it out alone..

Yeah riffs are never a problem with me either, but sweeping just takes practice. It took me around 1/2 a year to perfect my 3 note arpeggios.

i can play solid tight sounding riffs .. but have trouble with sweep picking

Thanks bro I've actually learned this after 2 yrs of playing, but it's only because death metal is the only genre I like to play.

Awesome!!! I'm no where near that good. I just play for fun. I would be asleep before the middle of the song. Anytime i attempted playing tech death i would always get to hyper and i would try bending the high strings to hard and they snapped back and broke. Rofl! I yanked the off the fret board. lol
