WWII Navy Pacific - Veteran Gene Schindler 3

Gene Schindler started out Dec 7 1941 two days out of Manila where he had been kicked out of radio school for misbehaving. (Nearly ALL the radio students in class then at Manila later died or were executed by the Japanese). His entire Navy career he could never amass 4 years of good conduct - THUS his "RED" hashmarks instead of "gold". His first battles were with the Asiatic Fleet and the Java Sea in USS Paul Jones (a four piper can). This is primarily the story of the Java Sea Battle - two opposing cruiser lines with Paul Jones and 3 other cans in between. Some references to other battles in refenece to destroyer tactics. This is my Uncle Gene, the most amazing man I have ever known. and I love him dearly. Sadly he passed away late last night, august 31, 2011. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. They don't come better then this man. Will miss him dearly. I love you Uncle Gene. You will forever be in my heart and soul.
