Police in Los Angeles have cleared one of the last and longest-standing 'Occupy' camps in the U.S, making 300 arrests in the process. These latest arrests bring the total across the whole 'Occupy' movement to almost 5,000, but now police are starting to defect to the other side. Our correspondent Marina Portnaya has been finding out why some people have been choosing to make history instead of making arrests.

  • Glad I subscribed here as your reporting and video quality are superb. This video offers a great interview of Captain Lewis and people should note what he says about when police actively interfere with the press and attempt to injure anyone including the press. As the Captain says, "that's what dictatorships do".

  • @megaterra69 It cant be just Russian propoganda when the truth is being said by an American retired cop, unedited. The main stream media certainly will not give any other cop the idea that they can join, that is why independent news agencies or foriegn news agencies are present at least giving the movement a voice in some areas

  • Surprised to hear RT use the term "Democratic protest" ? Hu ? What ?

  • I was depressed until I heard him say Amurrica.

  • These are just the people we need to run our companies.

  • @decycle1 Television shows you what their masters want you to see. Context is everything, and they know it.

  • Captain lewis, the only Member of occupy wallstreet that says Amurica. <3

  • Honestly what is illeagle about a peaceful protest of what people believe is wrong? Just a sign of the corrupt government. Yes I can understand arrest of violent protesters but peaceful protest is allowed by the BILL OF RIGHTS!

  • YES. This video just made my day.. Captain Lewis, you are a real hero.

  • Subjugating a free society Into a industrial dictatorship is tricky and you all with "No"plan and "No" leader are making a mockery of the Democracy that my grand father and great grand father and 2 of his brothers died to protect that gives you the "RIGHT" you are squandering. civil disobedience is not "Peaceful Protest" or address of grievances and most importantly "DOES NOT LOOK GOOD ON TELEVISION"

Your direction futile. If it is CHANGE you seek then "CHANGE" your tactics or you will loose

  • @decycle1 Another passive person who thinks if we just lay down and roll over our system won't become more oppressive and abusive. What about all the people who lost their homes due to mortgage fraud? What is their recourse? Do they say, "Oh atleast the gestapo didn't haul us away!" This is America it isn't our right to change the system if it becomes abuse IT IS OUR DUTY. Read the Constitution we are entitled to take part in this system and address our grievances to our governing body
