Joe Holt - Bye Bye Blackbird

About a year ago, when I began more earnestly listening to (and to some small extent reflecting - at times) post-bop jazz approaches, a bandleader for whom I played expressed "concern". Resisting change; he began an attempt to dissuade me from these explorations. My response: "Don't worry, I won't forget how to swing!".
This video replaces the previous post of this toon (where the camera was placed behind me - not my best angle). Taken from a nursing home entertainment program (for more on this extension of my work, see the playlist "Performing for Seniors" on this channel: joeholtsnotes) on 8-9-07. The residents (audience) were seated directly behind (and off to the right of) the camera, and it is them to whom I'm smiling (not the camera).
