@k2477456 The airforce chose the f-16. the navy didnt want the 18 to go to waste so they purchased that afterwards.

@k2477456 Falcon Family? you mean the F-16?? The Army doesn' t have Fighter Jets. They have attack helicopters.

@chris11057 the navy chose the hornet family because it is twin engine and it wont lose all power over the water and can return to the ship the army took the falcon family after the navy took the hornet

No the US Navy uses the Super Hornet its the addion to the hornet family.
